William Loeb, Jr., finds himself with one job too many. At present he Is collector of the port of. Now York and vice president of tho Guggenheim Gug-genheim Exploration company.. For six weeks he has been trying earnestly to get. rid of the collcctorshlp. His term expired on Mnrch 0, but on March 1 he took up his work In itho Guggenheim offices, of-fices, having arranged to give a few hours each day to the work of the collector's col-lector's office, pending the appointment of his succcsssor. Now that si month has dragged along with no sign of action ac-tion at Washington, Mr. Loeb is bmtily prodding tbc heads of the government with requests to hurry tho appointment, no that he may be froo to attend to the work of Ids now position. His salary rollactui is 51000 a month. Tho salury of tho new position la said to bo about twlcn that amount. Among tho names suggested for the colicctorwhlp are those of ex-Mayor Sague of Poughkcepslc, .John Purroy Mitchell. Raymond B. Fosdlck and Itlch-ard Itlch-ard Parr. |
