Show PRESIDENT AT FUNERAL OF LATE EMBASSADOR . WASHINGTON. Jan. 20. With all tho imprcsslvcncss and solemnity attending the joint participation of the state, the military and the church., the funeral of Joaquin Nabuco. late Brazilian embassador embassa-dor to this capital, was conducted today at- SL Matthew's Roman Catholic church. The body was escorted to the church by cavalry, firlillery and a battalion of engineers. The houorary pallbearers were Secretary Knox, the Italian. Austro-Hungaiiau Austro-Hungaiiau and French embassadors, the Portuguese and Chilean ministers. Senator Sena-tor Root. Senator Cullom, Associate Justice Jus-tice Holmes. Representative Perkins, Admiral Ad-miral Schley and John Barrett. The services at the church were conducted con-ducted by Alonsigncur Falconlo. the papal delegate, assisted by Alonsigncur Lee of St. Matthew's church. President Taft. the members of his cabinet, nearly all of the diplomatic body in Washington, members of the supreme court of the United Stales and a number num-ber of the senators and representatives and officials of high degree attended the services. At tho conclusion of tho ceremonies the casket, was conveyed to .Oak Hill cemetery. ceme-tery. thre to remain until about the middle of February, when It will be transported on the president's yacht Mayflower to Hampton Roads, placed on the cruiser Montana and conveyed to lilo do Janeiro. Madame Nabuco and her family will precede the Montana to Brazil. |
