An event of great importance in .Masonry, .Ma-sonry, not only in Utah, but also In the country at large. .occurred last evening when the Grand Commnitdcry of Knights Templar for the stato of Utah was Instituted In-stituted by Sir Knight A. The following officers were elected to serve until next. April, at which tlino the next annual conclave will he held in Sail Lako City: Samuel Paul, grand commander, com-mander, J. H. Epperson of Ogden. deputy dep-uty grand commander; II. N. Mayo, grand generalissimo: Henry Hughes or Park City, captain general: C. F. Jennings, senior warden: F. C. Schramm, junior twillii-il, .ruiill o. i.a: n 13 il Uruii. hnwu prolate; W. F. Cunningham, grand recorder; re-corder; W. F. Adams, grand treasurer. John A. Houghton was appointed grand standard-bearer. Harry Baker of Ogdon grand warder, and F. C. Klchmond grand sword-bearer. A pleasing episode of the evening was the presentation to Sir Knight McGaffcy of a silver card of honorary membership in the commandery. bearing the facsimile fac-simile signatures of Sir Knights Paul and Cunningham.' The full choir from St. Mark's cathedral furnished tho music for the ceremonies. At the bannuet which followed about seventy-five knights wore present. Many of these came from adjoining stales to attend the ceremony. Sir Knight N. H Mnyn acted as toaslmaster. Responses were made, by Rev. E. I. Goshen.
