Show I i C. L CAMPAIGN HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL About $300 Is Raised the First Day in a Worthy Cause. The campaign Inaugurated by tho Y. W. C. A. to raise ?5000 for the expenses of the association and tho maintenance of Its quarters In this city was continued with much earnestness Thursday. About tlfty conscientious women were on the Job all day, and rapid progress Is being made of the canvass of tho city. 'The workers nro visiting all tho homes of the city and distributing cards on which the donor is supposed to Indicate tho amount he or she wishes to contribute contrib-ute annually to the worthy cause. These cards arc also being distributed In the business district. It Is reported that the workers are receiving re-ceiving many pledges and thus far the campaign has been more successful than was expected. The citizens of Salt Lako apparently realize the worthiness of tho cause and are doing their best to help It The campaign will be continued until the necessary amount has been raised. The women raised S300 Wednesday nnd feel quite encouraged. It 1h pointed out that $5500 Is needed this year for the assistance of tho association, as follows. Rent of buildings, $1700; salaries. $2100; office supplies, $200; travelers' aid work, 5100; extension work, S100; loan and equipment connected with establishing the present qunrters of the association. $1000. The. total expenses of the association this year will bo $11,000. Of this sum. $5500 Includes the disbursement shown. The remaining SSSOO Includes the sums expended on what arc termed the self-supporting self-supporting features of the association, and' Include the clnsses, cafeteria and tho boarding house, 115 West Tomplo street. |
