H- minium ji rcka's foremost citizens, among them bf-ing bf-ing Dr. John A. Ilensol, Hugh HefToran of the Ilcrrcran & Thompson company, and Lawrence Blackclt, manager of the Bullion Beck mine, have during tho last several days been tho recipients of a scries of blackmailing letters, demanding money or threatening tho lives of the recipients re-cipients or those of their families. Tho pollco believe that they have a clew to tho writer of tho letters and the theory has boon advanced that It probably Is an Insano person. A man wrote a series of similar letters here several years ago and was Ilnally caught and committed to the Slate Mental hospital at-Provo, where he Is now conllned.
