HOUSE MAY ASK FOR PUBLICITY OF PROOFS WASHINGTON. Feb 17. Members of the house may demand that Robert E. Peary exhibit his proofs to the world before be-fore voting him a gold modal and the thanks of congress. It wns learned today that the naval committee was not en tirely unanimous on tho proposition of bestowing honors upon tho discoverer of the polo, Ono of tho loaders of tho house who declined de-clined to allow tho uso of his name, said today ho was opposed to accepting tho proofs of Mr. Peary that ho discovered the polo merely because tho National Geographical society had nccoptod thorn. He charged a preconceived prejudice In favor of Peary on tho part of the society, nnd said that, before congress took thin stop tho verdict of this society nhould be confirmed by other scientific bodies of the world.
