Show GRAINS RECOVER AS SHORTSSEEK COVER Prices Fall Early in the Day, but Advance Strongly Before Be-fore Closing. EARLY RUSH OF SELLING ORDERS IN WHEAT PIT Traders in Corn Soon Outsold, and Close Is Strong, With High Range. CHICAGO, Jan. 15. Grain prices fell ! off on liquidation trades hero today early In tho session, but recovered their strength later on In a rush to cover by tho shorts. Corn made the greatest advance, closing ic to iJc higher than yesterday. Provisions followed the trend of grain, but were not so pronounced on the recovery, re-covery, closing from 2Jc to 12Jc lower. The wheat pit was rushed with selling orders at the start and fell off from Bo to ljc in the early trades, increased receipts re-ceipts and a lessened demand for cash wheat being tho moving factors. Tho close was strong, with the range from Jc lower to unchanged from yesterday's final figures, with May, which had shown tho greatest fluctuation, at $1.1111.118. Expectation of larger receipts, based on greatly improved transportation conditions con-ditions and favorable weather prospects in tho corn belt, precipitated selling early in the day, and a dip of from So to ic resulted. Traders soon found themselves outsold, and the tide of prices reversed. The close was strong, with a range of from c to ic higher. On the decline May closed at 68J69c. The range in oats was between 3c and 3c, May fluctuating the most, touching a low of 473c and a high of 4SJ4SJc, closing AOUc higher than yesterday's cIobc.
