Sehilr. multi-millionaire banker bank-er nnd philanthropist, is withdrawing from many great business enterprises with a view to complete retirement. Ho is tho latest financier to desert the ranks. This week Mr. Schiff retired from the directorates of both the Union aud Southern Pacific railroads and, it was s.tid today in Wall street, ho will retire re-tire from others before the end of the month. The deaths of Henry IT. Rogers and E. TI. Harriman, both of which were attributed to overwork, havo had a great effect upon tho big financiers of the couutrv. J, P. Morgan for several years has been shaping his affairs so that his son, J, P. Morgan, Jr., can take complete control of thorn in a year or so. John D. Rockefeller's affairs arc completely handled by John D. Rockefeller, Rock-efeller, Jr., and William Rockefeller. Andrew Carnegie has completely withdrawn with-drawn from active business affairs and others aro leaving big affairs to young-or young-or men. |
