Show ARCHITECTS ARE BUSY WITH NUMEROUS PLANS Indications of Great Building Activity Are Shown in Local Offices. Local architects arc rushing plans for nearl3 a score of .buildings to be erected in Salt Lake within tho next 3'oar, the cost ranging from $5000 to $250,000 each, and it is reported that steel has alrcad3r, been ordered for a new k3'scrapcr in the business district which is planned for five stories, with a foundation built with a view lo extending extend-ing it to nine stories at somo future date. Among these buildings is a group to lie erected by (ho Walker estate and other interests south and west of tho Ncwhouso hotel site and the new Dab building to be erected next spring at (he northeast corner of Fourth South and Main streets. Prelinunaiy plans for tho extensive improvements to" be mado on State and Third South streets by the Auerbach interests in-terests are also being considered and the drawins and specifications for the new theater to be erected by Samuel Ncwhouso for the Morris circuil aro now in New York, awaiting tho arrival of Mr. Ncwhouso from Europe when, it is expcclcd, (hey will be approved and bids for the construction will bo sought. Activitj in State street property during dur-ing the last week also foretells a season of building that will extend the business busi-ness district of that street well on toward to-ward Soventh South street and, although al-though several of the recent purchases of State street, lots woro for investment invest-ment purposes, I here arc a number of purchasers who aro already considering plans for permanent and costly improvements. |
