Show DUEL TO THE DEATH LASTS FOR FOUR HOURS NEW YORK. Jan. 15. A duel of four hours' duration engaged In by two night watchmen In Park & Tllford's store on Broadway, resulted today In the death of one of the participants from a bullet In the head. After linally running down and shooting bis companion, tho survivor sat down and wrote a letter to tho police, po-lice, telling them all about It, and then finished up his night's work by cleaning up and putting the store In order. John Ferris, who has worked for the firm for twenty-live years. Is under arrest, ar-rest, charged with the shooting. The victim of the duel was John Woods. Thero had been bad feeling between them and during the night they renewed their quarrel. Ferris tofd the police that Woods slapped him In the face and that for hours they chased each other around the store, upstairs and down. Several shot; were exchanged, but none took effect ef-fect until Ferris finally caught Woods in the engine room and shot him in the head. |
