Show HOUR UNDER KNIFE WITHOUT A MURMUR Nevada Mining Man Undergoes Operation Opera-tion and Endures Great Pain, but Never Flinches. Claude Jnman. former chief of police of Goldfield, now a prominent mining mankind Inventor of mining machinery, underwent a painful operation at the Cullen hotel yesterday. About a year and a half ago, while mining In Nevada, Mr. Inman was struck in the chest by a piece of flying steel from a drill head. The steel was never removed and recently re-cently it has occasioned Mr. Inman some trouble. In an effort to locate the troublesome steel Dr. F. B. Steele yesterday operated on Mr. Inman. Tho mining man refused to take any anaesthetic and experienced all the pain of the operation without a murmur. For an hour and a quarter the doctor cut the flesh away from the ribs and probed about looking for the steel, which he was unable to locate. After the operation Mr. Inman said that he was experiencing no . ill effects. He declared that while the pain was Intense In-tense during the operation he thought that it was better to endure it than the ill effects which follow the taking of an anaesthetic. |
