Show cETSi Social Affairs Which Have Occurred Oc-curred Past Week in Second Sec-ond City of Utah. LARGEST FUNCTION WAS BALL AT THE CONGRESS Mr. and Mrs. Hulaniski and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Woods Were Hosts and Hostesses. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Jan. 1. The only largo affair af-fair of Jthe week was the ball given Wednesday evening at the Congress by Mr. and Mrs. E. T. JIuIanlskI and ,Mr. and Mrs. II. C. Woods. The hall was decorated with broad strands of smilax and carnations, which extended from the sides and corners and centered to a large bell of smilax, thickly studded witlv carnations. car-nations. The orchestra stand and windows win-dows were banked with smilax and carnations car-nations and potted plants and palms. In the main hall cosy corners were arranged, tho seats being covered with Indian blankets. The reception room and refreshment re-freshment parlor were also decorated with smilax, carnations and palms. Tho guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Hulaniski. Mr. and Mrs. li. C. Wood and Miss Leonard. Mrs. Ilulanlskl wore a black silk gown with an imported lace overdress with jet trimmings. Miss Leonard's frock was pink silk crepe with jet tr!mmlng!i, and Mrs. Wood wore an imported gown of black and white chlu-tllla chlu-tllla lace over silk, with seed pearl trimmings trim-mings and diamonds. The music was turnished's by Short's orchestra. The Misses Florence and Laura Eccles will leave next week for Los Angeles, whero they will re-enter the Caumnauch school of expression for girls. Mrs. O. D. Banks is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wright for a few days. The. pupils of Mrs. Frank Berry's dancing class for children gave a dance Thursday afternoon at the Royal. The hall was decorated In tho holiday colors, and each little dancer was bedecked with garlands of smilax and llowers. Dr. Walter Whalen of Philadelphia Is spending tho holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Whalcn. Miss Blanche Malson has returned to her home in Ely, Nov.. after a visit of several days with relatives in Ogdcn. John I ley wood is hero from Virginia to spend the holidays with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hey wood, Mrs. Mary J. Clark of Salt Lake City Is the guest of her daughter, Mrs, Ben E. Tyree. for a few weeks. Professor and Mrs. W. D. Vincent of Blackfoot, Ida., aro the guests of Mr. and Airs. S. H. Browne for a few days. Miss Lorotta Whalen ls visiting friends in Salt Lake City. Miss Agnes Grill has returned to her home in Evanston, Wyo.. after a visit of several days in Ogdcn with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Grill. The Rev. and Mrs. W. "W. 'l'ho members of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and tho Ladies' auxiliary aux-iliary gave, a danco and hanquct Thursday Thurs-day evening In Eagles' hall in honor of the installation of the new officers. Miss Katheryn Morris was hostess Friday Fri-day evening at a "watcb' party given at her home on Madison avenue, about twenty guests being present. The homo was attractively decorated In the holiday colors. The evening was spent at games and music. Miss Florence Baker will Icavo next week for San Francisco for a short visit with relatives. Miss lone Wilcox entertained a circle of young friends at a card party New Year's eve at her homo on Adami avenue. |
