An earthquake shock fully as violent us (hat which wrecked San Frnncisco was recorded on the seismograph at the wcul.hor buronti today. It is estimated Hint tho earthquake occurred about 11000 miles south or southwest of Washington. Prof. Willis T. Monro expressed tho opinion that groat damage would result, re-sult, regardless of the location of tho earthquake. Tf on land. he. said, the dnmngo would bo tremendous, and if under tho sea, an enormous tidal wavo would follow. He expects that his bureau bu-reau will begin to hear definite reports not later than tomorrow morning. Distinct shocks were felt at four minutes min-utes after sixains morning.
