Show UTAH ART INSTITUTE LISTENS TO ' REPORTS Showing Distribution of Prizes for Exhibits at Institute at Ogdcn. A meeting of the Utah Stato Art Institute In-stitute was held Tuesday evening at tho home ofj Mrs. .Elizabeth Bonnemort, a member of tho governing board of the organization. The Institute closed a two weeks' art exhibition at Ogdon last Saturday Sat-urday night, and the meeting Tuesday evening was for the purp'oso of hearing the reports of tho various officials In chnrge of the affair. T3oth the report of the lccturo committee and that of Ihe Judges of tho prizes were listened to with lnlorcst. Most of the prizes for the best exhibits ex-hibits were awarded by the state. The report of the Jtidecs showed that Edwin Evans, professor of art at tho University of Utah, won the 5300 prize for his oil painting, "Gralnstack," a handsome landscape land-scape scene. Tho prize will be formally for-mally presented to Mr. Evans by Governor Gov-ernor Spry at a future date. When Mr. Evans receives tho prize tho painting bo-comes bo-comes the property of the Institute, under the laws of the organization. i The $150 prize, offered by tho Springvillc Spring-villc university, was won by .1. T. .Hnr-wood .Hnr-wood for nn oil painting. Tho Judges' report showed that the other prizes will be awarded as follows: One-hundred-dollar prize, for architectural drawing, to be decided later;, $10 prize, for black and whlto sketch. Daniel Beauregard; $15 prize, for ,water-color painting, tlo between be-tween W, G, Brown and J. T. ITnrwood; 510 prize, for needlework design, Ruth E. Evans, Tho prize winning, at the exhibition, under the law,s of Utah. Is determined by the popular vote of those making exhibits. |
