Show PRINCIPALS MUST GIVE NOTICE OP QUITTING WORK The Board of Fdneatmn does not want, principals to leave the employ or the board as long as they are doing efficient work. but. if any principal has mado up his mind to quit the service within a vear or two the board wants lo know it. The clerk of the board has been directed to send the following, whfch embraces the views of the board on Ihe subject, to every principal in. the city: ' ' Whon a principal makes up his mind lo enter oLher and more lucrative fields of employment and formulates his plans for other employment during his last Iwo or three years of service in the public, schools, it is a. matter of grave doubt whether his closing service reaches the usual standard of efficiency. In fact, it in a matter of common opinion opin-ion that interest in school work lessens somewhat with a consequent deterioration deteriora-tion in qualitv. If principals lun-made lun-made up their mind to give uj tin- ' teaching profession and to enler oth'T ' fields, thev ought to tender Iheir resig- j nation whenever they arrive at siih conclusion; and if thoy do not, the board might consist ently request an end of their service, when it is known that such is tho case. AVilh our large build ings and extended field for service of all our principals, there should be a compensation not unworthy of the best effort of manhood and womanhood, and when a commensurate salary is provided, pro-vided, there should bo no hesitancy on tho part of Iho board in eliminating from the system nnv principal who does not measure up to tho full standard of the system. |
