Show BICYCLE ORDINANCE 11 AMENDED FBI Representatives of Utah Federation Feder-ation of Lahor to Appear Before Be-fore Council Committee. Among tho matters which will be before be-fore the city council committees which will meet this week on Friday evening instead of tonight will bo tho bicycle ordinance in its amended form. A large number of petitions have been received from working men in favor of tho use of the sidewalks at least during certain cer-tain honrs of the day and a deputation from tho Utah Federation of Labor will bo present and give their views to the council men again. The ordinance as amonded minus the preamble, reads: Section 720 Riding bicycles upon sidewalks side-walks prohibited. It shall he unlawful for any person to ride any bicycle, tricycle, tri-cycle, velocipede, motor or other riding machine or vehicle upon any sidewalk within this city, except that between tho hours of 3 and 8 a. m and 5 and 7 p. nv, between November 1st and May 1st following. fol-lowing. aJd riding- machines (except motors) mo-tors) may be ridden upon any sidewalk where the street Is not paved or macadamized. mac-adamized. Sec 721. Speed. It shall be unlawful for any person to ride any such riding machine or vehicle upon any bicycle path or street of U1I3 city at a rate of speed greater than eight miles per hour, or upon any sidewalk 3t a rate of speed greater than ilve miles per hour. All persons riding or wheeling any bicycle or other riding machine on any bicycle path, or street or sidewalk, shall, when meeting another, turn to the right. Sec. 2. That a new section, to be known as section 72Sa. Is hereby enacted to read as follows: Sec. 728a. Bicycles to be provided with gongs and lights It shall be unlawful un-lawful for any person to ride or use a bicycle, tricycle, velocipede, motor, or other riding machine, vehicle, apparatus, on any of the sidewalks of the city, or upon the bicycle path In Liberty Park, without having in connection therewith a gong of sufficient sound to warn persons per-sons of its approach, and using tho same in warning of Its approach. It shall also be unlawful for any person to ride or use a bicycle, tricycle, velocipede, motor, or other riding machine, vehicle or apparatus, ap-paratus, on any of the public streets, avenues, sidewalks, or other highways of the city, or upon the bicycle path in Liberty Park, between sunset and sunrise, sun-rise, without a lighted lamp or lantern so conspicuously placed thereon as to warn persons of Its approach. Sec. 3, All ordinances and resolutions and parts of ordinances and resolutions In conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Sec !.
