Show PECULIAR PHASES OF WEATHER COilllS Fair Weather for Salt Lake Today Indicated by Barometer. The peculiar phases of tho woathor aro being continued, and, following tho heavy downpour at Kansas City, the storm contor moved slightly eastward; but, struugo as it may scoiu, tho storm has not yet reached St. Louis, although that city was directly in the path of the moving storm-body, and, according to all rules applicable to such conditions, condi-tions, it should havo reached St. Louis early this morning, with heavy precipitation. precipi-tation. Tho central body of tho slorm has moved but a few miles eastward, and tho only way to account for theso un usual conditions is the tact mat tno barometric prcasuro down in tho Southern South-ern portion of tho United States is low, while to tho Southwest, coutoring at El Paso, Tex., the sanio condition pro-vails, pro-vails, while in tho Northeastern portion of the country, ranging from tho great lakes up into tho British possessions, tho barometric prcssuro is very high, tills same condition prevailing in "Washington "Wash-ington and on tho North Pacific coast. These atmospheric conditions probably prob-ably had tho effect of filling up tho storm center, lessening its area ot precipitation, pre-cipitation, and tho high barometric pressure to tho Northwest, as woll as the Southwest, would have tho tendency of forcing tho storm-body in a southeasterly south-easterly direction, probab'lv in the direction di-rection of Nashville and Chattanooga, thence on to Savannah and tho East. May Miss St. LouIb. This tendency would be groatly strengthened by tho barometric pressure press-ure from the direction of the great lakes, so that St. Louis now has a chanco of missing tho storm altogether. Tho conditions aro such as to weaken tho energy of the storm, and it is probable prob-able that tho precipitations over tho Southeastern portion will bo much lightor than thoy were farther westward. west-ward. Kansas Citv escaped with but a trace of rainfnll Friday, while in Oklahoma there was a precipitutiou of 2.0G inches. Local conditions have not varied from tho predictions of tho local bureau, bu-reau, and whilo the afternoon and evening even-ing of Friday had the appearance of rain, the expected shower did not come. The high barometric pressure along the North Pacific const will cause continued con-tinued fair weather for Salt Lake' and vicinity today, with rising temperature. Local Weather Report.
