The lady is a Mormon Mor-mon and .in ovcollent school trustee, which position ahe filled the past thrco years. J had requested her to run again for re-election and there was no intention inten-tion on my part to lc licr opponent, and my name w.m placed In nomination In my nhsenco. After being nominated I did what I could to get elected. Tho election. 1 believe, waa conducted in all falrncis in all respect, and In a friendly contest only. Being a CicntUc many fri?nlu voted for mc, and my opponent being a Mormon many of her friends voted for her, hut It was not a church and Gentile contest, ns many good t'hurch members gave me their votes, ami tho lady was worthy of tho support of the many Gentiles that voted for her. The election resulted In a tie vote, and at my suggestion and In the manner that I suggested It was decided by lot In accordance ac-cordance with so.ellon 1S00 of the Revised Re-vised Statutes of I'tah, as amended at page 75 of th Session Laws of 1905. The section provides that tho judges of election shall count and ranvuss the. vote and declare the election and "all lies shall be decided by lot." In the campaign for votes J was treated better than I deserved or could reasonably reason-ably expect by my opponent and her sup-porters. sup-porters.
