Show " FREIGHT AGENT MEETS WITH HORRIBLE DEATH R. D. Donoiigh Crushed Under Locomotive in-North Keni-mcrer Keni-mcrer Yards. Tho accidental' death of R. B. Do-nough, Do-nough, traveling freight agent for the Oregon Short Line, which occurred in the North Kemmercr, Wyo,, yards Monday morning, occasioned deep regret re-gret among his many friends in Salt Lake. JDonough has been omployod by Assistant As-sistant Freight Agent Tuttlc in tho marking and checking of wool, and was traveling from Kom merer to the north yards with an engine nnd car for tho purposn of loading. TJonough and Archibald Lake, another employee, were traveling in, tho cab of tho locomotive, loco-motive, together with the engineer and fireman. Suddenly the engine struck a brokon rail and was thrown down tho embankment . Tho engineer and fireman fire-man jumped, thus saving themselves from injury. Lako was slightly bruised, but Donough was caught under un-der the falling coal from the tender and, pinned under this, ho was held, while escaping steam from tho engine literally scalded him to death. A wrecking outfit was brought from Tvcmmcrer. and when tho enginn had been righted Donough 's mutilated remains re-mains were removed. The' -will bo shipped to Salt Litko today for interment. inter-ment. Donough was unmarried, and 2S years old. lie rcsidod with his sister, ALts. J, L. Yundt, in this city. He came originally from Minneapolis, his father being well known In railroad circles in that city in the early days. For several years he had been cm-plo3-od by tho Oregon Short Line as an extra agent during the wool season. sea-son. His services have always been of a highly satisfactory character, and his death is deeply regretted by the railroad fratcrnit- and many friends outsido of those circles. |
