Show OH. Hf. I CALDERWOOD IS COUNTY PHYSICIAN County Commissioners, After Three-Hour Caucus, Select a Dark Horse. Dr. V. 1?. Calderwood was appointed county physician' by the County Commissioners Com-missioners yestordn', after a wrangle in secret caucus lasting over three hours. Dr. Calderwood is at present assistant as-sistant couuty physician, nnd applied for tho chief plnco only upon condition that the board should decide not to reappoint Dr. J3. V. Whitney, the present pres-ent incumbent, Humors were afloat yesterday that as a result of Commissioner Mackny voting vot-ing for Dr. Calderwood, Commissioner Cosgriff had promised to voto for tho reappointment of James Sabine, Jr., superintendent su-perintendent of the infirmary, instead of Joseph Cottle, who has the" backing of Commissioner Clinton and of United Slates Senator Gonrgo Sutherland. Another An-other rumor is that neither Cottle nor Sahino will be named, but the board will go outside and select a dark horse. .No appointment to this oGice was made yestordny. B. Steele. None of tho Commissioners Commission-ers would divulge what Iho objection was to the reappointment of Dr. Whitney. Whit-ney.
