The local option bill, by McCracken. received quite a severe setback; In fact, it was' all but killed, and It will be exceedingly difficult, to secure a favorabio recommendation from the committee now having it in charge, A mnjorlty or the Judiciary committee com-mittee recommended the bill as amended for passage, while the mlnorltv recommended recom-mended that It be referred to tho Committee Com-mittee of Privileges and Elections, to which committee It had first been sent. .Then tho light wns on In earnest. Nearly every member had something to snv, some of them becoming very personal In their remarks, rendering It necessary for the Speaker to "call them down." Sont Back to Committee. The minority report wns adopted and tho much-discussed local option bill was sont back to the Comml'tcc on Privileges and Elections, where will no doubt spend the rest of Its" days. At least, the action of today Is an Indication of what Its fate will be If It Is over recommended for passage. It Is safe to say that three-fourths three-fourths of the people of this State want a local option law. It Is posslblo that the House will pass the bill Introduced yesterday bv Ballcn-tlne.
