Show Fear of tho i)ark. A surprisingly large number of people peo-ple arc afraid to sleep In the dark. That fact Is made clear by the number of gas jets that arc kept burning all night long. All. up and down the street, in I front windows and back, the little flames keep their vigil. Even In tho hottest night of summer they still stand guurd. Like tiny pin points of light they glow through unshutetred windows, win-dows, above deserted streets and silent back yards. Some of the all-night lights may, It Is true, be an emblem of sickness, sick-ness, but most of them are the insignia of the fear of the dark. New York Evening Post |
