Show HEALTH CONDITIONS i mm good Sixty-Five Communities Are Reported Re-ported hy State Board Free From Contagion. Tho bulletin of tho Utah Stato Board of Health for July, Just Issued by Secretary Secre-tary T. B. Beatty, shows a total number of deaths during tho month of 207, reported re-ported tfrom f 103 towns and districts. Slxty-fivo communities woro reported frco of contagious diseases. General health conditions aro shown to bo good. Contagious Diseases. Thirty cases of 6carlct fever aro reported re-ported from Beaver county, but only six In all tho other counties of tho State. Out of this number of cases there was only ono death. Thirty-six cases of smallpox aro reported, with no death. Diphtheria and mobraneous croup show twenty-six cases, with only ono death. Thirty-rive Cases Typhoid. Thlrty-flvo cases and three deaths aro reported from typhoid fever. Out of flfty-nlno flfty-nlno cases of whooping cough thero was ono death. Forty-llvo cases of measles did not claim a single victim. Nine cases of tuberculosis wer reported, with tho samo number of deaths. In a supplement to the July report Secretary Beatty makes tho following" suggestions: Makes Some Suggestions. "It Is Important that all schools and school promises In the Stato nhall bo carefully care-fully prepared for occupancy beforo tho convening of schools next month, and the accomplishment of this object may be greatly promoted by health officers. "Those In chargo of schools should be urged to secure their thorough cleaning and ventilation, and In some cases whero contagious diseases prevailed during tho last torm. disinfection of tho school buildings build-ings should be performed. Dry Earth Closots. "Attention is called to tho law recently enacted requiring tho use of dry-earth closets In connection with schools and preparations should at this tlmo be mado to comply with tho law. In all cases tho vaults formerly used should bo thoroughly thor-oughly disinfected and filled In. Must Make Iteport. "Health officers aro agnjn reminded of their dutv to make a monthly report to the State Board of Health, on or beforo be-foro tho Dth day of each month, of all cases of contagious and Infectious diseases dis-eases which havo- occurred within their Jurisdiction during the previous month, on cards provided for tho purpose; If no cases have occurred, tho fact should be so reported. "When any caso of contagious or Infectious In-fectious disease Is reported to tho health officer as occurring In any family, a member mem-ber of which Js In attendance upon any public or private schocol, It Is the duty of the health officer to at onco report the existence of such disease to tho principal prin-cipal . of tho school so attended, giving the namo and address of tho person affected af-fected and tho nature of the disease." |
