Deneen and a committee com-mittee of ten Chicago business men, the prospect of a military regiment being called Into service at Chicago seemed as far away as It did this morning when It was pra tlcally assured that only a decided de-cided change for the worse could bring about such action It was said In the Governor's office today to-day that Mayor Dunne and Chief G'Nall had both assured the Governor that they had the situation Well In hand that no troops wo.-1 n led, and that unless something some-thing happened to change Gov. Deneen's opinion that there was little prospect of calling the military Into service It was hiilevd by the ( mployers that the statements they mad. to ,, it-un-cn this afternoon and evening would materially mate-rially change his opinion, but the best the committee secured was a promise to Investigate the situation thoroughly.
