Show I ROWLAND HALL PUPILS GIVE ENTERTAINMENT Many of Salt Lake's leading musicians were entertained In tho Congregational church Inst night by nearly thirty young musicians who have Just closed the year In the piano department of Rowland Hall. And tho word cnlcrtnlned Is used In this connection advls3dly, for tho evidences of appreciation on tho part of tho largo- and brilliant audience were spontaneous and genuine. From tho llttlo tots who rendered ren-dered music, simple but beautiful, singly. In pairs, trios and quartettes, to the girls of nearly woman's growth who essayed more difficult selections, all performed In a manner which showed careful training and Intelligent Interpretation of their parts. Tho programme of eighteen piano num. r hers was varied with two violin selections by Prof. George E. Skclton of the school's violin department Miss Gratia Flanders of the piano department was accompanist A beautiful feature of tho entertainment was the presentation of medals at tho closo of the concert by the Most Rev. D. S. Tuttle. whd, as presiding bishop of tho Episcopal church, is the hend of the Row- 1 land Hall school. Explaining that tho presentation of the medals did not necessarily ne-cessarily mean that Ihclr recipients were the most accomplished musicians la tho school, but that they were regarded as having been the most faithful and persevering perse-vering In pursuing their musical studies, lhj bishop gave to Miss Jessie Kenyan tho gold medal nnd to Miss Sadlo Henderson Hender-son the silver trophy Bishop Tuttle then snld that ho had "been authorized to present a special token to one pupil who. through dispensation of 1 Providence, had been bnrred from uninterrupted unin-terrupted competition for the prizes offered, of-fered, and calling to tho platform llttlo Miss Dorother Leonard, daughter of the lato Bishop Ablel Leonard, presented to her a diamond pin. with the love and good will of her teachers and tho blessing of the presiding bishop.
