It Avas on March 31, tAvo years ago, that the driving driv-ing of the tunnel Avas suspended. About six A-ceks ago John Owen and C. W. Morgan, Iavo of the most successful suc-cessful mining men in the Idaho Springs district, secured control of the Saratoga property, and Immediately began be-gan to renew the negotiations with the tunnel people for the extension of the big bore to cut their property. Their efforts resulted in the contract that Avas closed last night, says the Times of Denver. The distance to be driven will be betAveen 1300 and 1500 feel, and will be accomplished In less than six months' time. Important In connection Avith this deal Is the resumption of the Carpenter smelter at Golden. In addition to this is the purchase of the Denver, Lakewood & Golden by Samuel Newhouse, and the incorporation incorpora-tion of the Denver & Intermountaln railway, Avlth the aA'owcd intention of extending the line to Idaho Springs to connect Avlth the tunnel. All of these things promise an unprecedented activity activ-ity for the NeAVhouse tunnel. |
