Show ALLEGED PADDERS ARE OUTON BOND Two Denver Aldermen Indicted for fiiecuoa x rauaa ja-ppeox xu-for xu-for the Court. DENVER. Colo., May A. Alderman Charles Cochran and John D. Ross, indicted yesterday by the grand jury for alleged padding of the registration, appeared today before District Judge Johnson and gave bonds for their appearance for trial. Supervisor Super-visor Lowry has not yet been served with a warrant, being absent from the State. It is said that he is recupcratr ing his health in Cuba, A number of warrants based upon the Indictments glowing out of thc alleged election frnuds ut tho State and Congressional elections of 1302 have not been served for the reason that the persons named ! cannot be located. It is said that a ! number of them are dead. It was the alleged frauds committed at this election elec-tion that Influenced former Congressman Congress-man John F. Shafroth to resign his scat in the lower house of Congress in favor of the Republican contestant, Robert B. Bonynge. Both Cochran and Ross, wo are Republicans, aro claiming that the Indictments against them were thc resxtlt of an effort to stigmatize thc Republican Re-publican city ticket and aid in Its defeat de-feat at tho coming election on May 17. Afllduvits have been secured to the effect ef-fect that money was offered certain persons to Influence them to swear before be-fore the grand Jury to the truth of charges against Lowry and others. |
