Show University Offers 35 Scholarships Thirty five scholarships for a special three week summer class are available for Utah high school and junior high school teachers according to an announcement an-nouncement released by the University Uni-versity of Utah. During the three week class to be taught June 5 to 25 at the University of Utah, Utah's major industries will be studied by making use of classroom lectures and field trips. Field trips will be made to the major economic regions of the state and will include in-clude actual visits to plant facilities facil-ities in such industries as lead, zinc, copper, petroleum, cement, building materials, salt, gilsonite and others. This is the seventh summer that scholarships have been made available by the Natural . Resources Committee of the Associated As-sociated Chambers of Commerce. The purpose of the three week class is to give teachers an opportunity op-portunity to personally visit the Utah plants , and mills, to learn first hand about Utah's industries indus-tries and to collect resource material ma-terial for school classroom use. Scholarships for the class, carrying car-rying five hours of University credit, cover tuition and transportation trans-portation expenses for the field trips. Those wishing to apply for scholarships must submit applications ap-plications to the University of Utah Extension Division by May 4. Those who receive a scholarship scholar-ship award for the class will be notified about May 16. |
