Show Public Health Group Dates May 7 Meet The 1962 meeting of the Utah Public Health Association has been dated for May 7 and 8 in the Newhouse Hotel. It will feature two seminars and a public pub-lic meeting, it was announced by Mrs. Ruth Ann Purhonen. The theme of the 25th annual meeting and subject of the first day seminar is "Communication for Health Action." Dr. Mayhew Derryberry, chief of Health Education Ed-ucation Services of the U. S. Public Health Service, will be the keynoter. He will also be a consultant throughout the sessions. ses-sions. Dr. Derryberry is author of many articles of communication communica-tion in public health. Viral hepatitis will be presented pre-sented in the seminar on May 8. Professor Robert W. McCollum of the Yale University of Medi- cine will be one of several guest consultants for that session. "The subjects for the meeting have been well chosen to fit the current public health situation in Utah. Communication is important im-portant because our nation has reached th point that if significant signifi-cant progress is to be achieved it must come from the health actions ac-tions of each citizen. This re- quires effective communication from those with the know how to those who have to take the desired health action." "The epidemics of infectious hepatitis in Utah last year will give real significance and urgency urg-ency to the hepatitis seminar," Mrs. Purhonen said. A special feature of the UPHA event is a program to which the public is invited. The subject will be "Mass Hysteria in Public Pub-lic Emergency." This civil defense de-fense topic will feature Dr. Valentine Val-entine Wohlauer, authority on emergency medical services, now with the Colorado State Health Department. All health and welfare professional profes-sional workers, as well as' interested in-terested citizens, are invited to the meetings because of widespread wide-spread interest they have made," Mrs. Purhonen said.
