The first meeting of the Order of Eastern Star for this season was a business meeting held Wed aesday with Worthy Matron Sa-die Chesles presiding. 3 not-too-rl- bananaa 3 tablespoons butter u cup brown sugar Sift flour and baking powder together. Beat egg whites to a stiff froth; add sugar gradually, beating constantly until mixture Is thick and smooth. Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon-colore- d; cut and fold lightly Into egg whites. Add water, lemon rind and Juice; mix lightly. Fold In flour mixture as for sponge cake. Fold In butter, cooled until slightly thickened. Peel bananas; cut In half lengthwise. Melt 3 tablespoons butter; add brown sugar; stir and beat until sugar Is dissolved. Pour In cake batter to fill pan 2,3 full. Bake In slow oven until cake Is done. Loosen cake carefully; Invert on serving plate. Garnish with Banana-Crea- m and a few nutmeats. Serve warm. V LEMON CHIFFON PIE (Filling for one 9 Inch pie) 1 envelope Knox Sparkling Gelatine cup cold water 4 eggs 1 cup sugar Vt cup lemon Juice Vt teaspoonful salt 1 teaspoonful grated lemon rind Add one-ha- lf cup sugar, le-mon Juice and salt to beaten egg yolks and cook over boiling water until of custard consisten-cy. Pour cold water In bowl. Add to hot custard and stir until dissolved. Add grated lemon rind. Cool. When mixture begins to thicken, fold In stiffly beaten egg whites to which the other one-ha- lf cup sugar has been ad-ded. Fill baked pie shell and ' chill. Just before serving spread over pie a thin layer of whipped cream. ' Banana Butterscotch Loaf ! Recipe fills 11 x 6 x i loaf pan or deep, round j pan, serves 10. j Temperature 326o F.
