Show " The Gilded Age" to be Enjoined. It was understood yesterday afternoon, after-noon, by certain parties, that Mr. John T. Raymond had telegraphed to this city to have an injunction served upon Willie Gill, to prevent his playing play-ing the drama of " The Gilded Ago " at the theatre in this city, on the ground that he (Raymond) holds the exclusive right to the piece. Mr. Gill : claims that he knows Jiothin? about Mr. Raymond, nor Jiis title. Hia piece was dramatized from the novel expressly for him, without reference to the version now being played by Mr. Raymond. Should an attempt bo made to Btop his playing tho piece he intends to test the right of injunction. In tho meantime, while the legal status of the matter is being discussed, tho public will doubtless doubt-less embrace the first opportunity to aee the play, which will be on Monday Mon-day night, and after they have seen it Mr. Raymond may enjoin if he wishes. |
