Show . Prof. RiKgs and the " Mail." i The Mail takes occasion to censure : Professor Riggs, territorial superin- 1 tendent of common schools, because 1 he failed to visit the public school of Corinne, on his recent official visit 1 to the north. A Herald representative represent-ative "interviewed," yesterday, The professor, on tho alleged neglect, and ascertained that it was unjust and causeless. Prof. R. intended to viflit, officially, J the Corinne school, as well as others 3 in Box Elder and Weber counties, c but indisposition compelled him to i return homo before he had visited c any of the schools in the counties i named, save those at Brigham city. The Mad also attempts to cast a Blur upon the superintendent in regard to a conversation which is alleged to have occurred at tho residence of Bishop Nichols, of Brigham city. We are assured by Prof. It. that the i slander is without foundation. The superintendent has labored energetic-f energetic-f ally and faithfully for the cause of ' education, and the Mail's baseless attack will not, in the slightest manner, man-ner, injure him. |
