Show By TV. TJ. Tolej.ranh. TUB II AS G I AO OF JIORXIHER. Sacramento, 15. Chas. J. Flynn, alias Mortimer, paid the full penalty of the law to-day for the murder of Mrs. Mary Gibson. About half past twclvo, sheriff Brytle, addressing the prisoner, said: "Charley, time is about up. You will stand up now, preparatory to having the straps placed on you. Now, Charles Mortimer, we are about to start for the place of execution, exe-cution, have you anything to say before wo Btart?" Still no reply. The prisoner was led out to tho gallows, and his conduct and the expression of his countenance were exactly the same as they have been for many days; and he carried with him and held, on the platform, the towel with which ho had been accustomed to brush away the flies. The prisoner was placed on the drop. Under-sheriff Woods road the death warrant; afterwards, Brytle again inquired of the doomed man if he had anything to say, but received no answer. liev. An examination by tho physician showed that tho Beck had been completely com-pletely broken. The appearance of the corpse was the same as though the deceased de-ceased had died a natural death. The remains will bo taken cast, together with those of tho deceased brother, Wm. J. Flynn, by his brother who recently re-cently arrived hero. . |
