Show The Canailiau Investigation. Ottawa, Out.. 5. The Commission resumed its investigation' to-day at noon. Victor Hudson, of Montreal, was examined hi reference to the money subscribed for the Montreal election. He could give no satisfactory satisfac-tory evidence as to the amount sub-scribed, sub-scribed, who subscribed it, or if money was obtained from Sir Hugh for Car- tcr's election. He knew of money being spent during the election. Bambien, M. P., was next called, but he didn't answer. Sir John Mc Donald slated that he had received a telegram from Bambien saying hp. was ready to come up at any time, but had special business to attend to and hoped he would not be called unless un-less absolutely required. The chairman chair-man ordered" a telegram to be sent to him at once. Sir Hincks was next called and read the letters that passed between him and Bealty, of Toronto. They were very long, and relative to the period when Bealty was in negotiations nego-tiations with Sir Francis on behalf of American capitalists. Sir Francis Hincks said he had never heard of any proposition to give a charter , to the company, and it, was never contemplated con-templated by tho government until the attempts at amalgamation had failed. |
