Among the bills passed were the following: To securo a more efficient administration of Indian affairs; and appropriating out of the Japanese indemnity fund $126,000 for distribution among the officers and crew of tho "Wyoming and Takiaugon, as bounty for the destruction of piratical pirati-cal vessels at Simoneseki, Japan. A long discussion ensued on the bill for the payment of the expenses incurred in-curred in the suppression of Indian hostilities in Montana, in '67; but do action was taken. Th suh committee of the select com mittee on the condition of the Pacific railroad and creditmobilier, was authorized author-ized to take testimony at Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Adjuurned. |
