Show POLLOCKS LKTTER Review of the Stock Market the Past Week James A Pollock will say in his weekly mining share market letter under date of January 17 1896 The past week In mining stock circles has been characterized by a very satisfactory satis-factory activity and the demand for stocks has not been confined to any particular line except that the cheaper or speculative securities have rather had the call Orders frqrn the outside were not as numerous as was the case during the previous week but it is anticipated that there will be a great activity just as soon a the financial situation in the east is improved by the settlement of the many pending questions S questons The board of directors of Ajax rescinded re-scinded the recent assessment of 5 cents per share the report being that the mine has so improved that the heavier shipments can be made The stock held its own only during the week the tendency being slightly downwards Alliance did not Alace recover its lost strength buyers and sellers being unable to get together to any marked extent The stock is now selling sel-ling lower than for many months Stockholders are displaying their old faith however and paying the twentieth assessment Gas displayed I considerable strength and recorded an advance of several cents The annual meeting is to be held tomorrow The company reports another well Anchor showed no activity This stock should be a splendid buy at the present offerings of-ferings Bogan did some business but not at advanced quotations BullionBeck paid another dividend of 25000 on the 15th making 1975000 for the property pro-perty The properties are In splendid shape The regular double dividend of 1 rx > r Rharfi was Tiaid bv the Centennial Eureka on the 5th making a t t iof 1530000 Very little of the stock is on the market and none below 60 Crescent and Comstock are doing no business in the local market Dalton was a favorite during the week but at considerably lower prices than were in force a few weeks ago The heavy holders have no desire to sell at anywhere near present figures Daly and DalyWest were neither very active The new mill of the latter is working smoothly but has not yet gotten got-ten down to full capacity Horn Sil ver is making heavy shipments The stock is not coming out in response to the bids made Lucky Bill continues I development work with little change I in the showing I Mammoth held very close to its record re-cord of the week previous and considerable con-siderable business was done in the stock Morgan of Park City was wanted but not at the offering price The Mercur deal was declared off the first of the week the board of directors direc-tors declining to grant the extension requested by De Lamar who stated that his failure to connect was not the fault of the property but simply due to the financial uncertainty of the east The usual monthly dividend of 121s cents per share comes on the 20th Recent Re-cent developments in the mines of the company are of a highly encouraging nature and stocholders are congratulating congratu-lating themselves that the option was not taken up Ontario was very quiet Rover showed some weakness but recovered somewhat towards the close Silver King was in demand but little lit-tle of the stock came out The mines are making t splendid showing Preparations Pre-parations are being made of the corning corn-ing battle The shipments of product that have been made from the Sunshine in Camp I Floyd district have given very flatterIng flatter-Ing returns The cyanide saves the values in the ore to a very high percentage per-centage Dividends should not be more than two months away as the company has no debts Considerable stock changed hands during the week Tetro will double its present working force within the next few days and the company proposes to rush the development de-velopment work with great vigor The subscriptions for the Gold Dust treasury treas-ury stock took the entire block recently re-cently of Bingham are holding their own in great shape Messrs Burton and Creighton who are working on the William Penn group west of the Eagle and joining the Rovers on the northwest have struck the top of the Mercur ledge at a depth of eightyfive feet and are feeling very jubilant in consequence Articles incorporating the Eastern Pride groups in the Camp Floyd district dis-trict under the title of the New Year Gold Mining company were filed with the county clerk yesterday The incorporation in-corporation was announced in detail exclusively through The Herald a few days ago Lynch Co of Mercur have been awarded the contract for the sinking of the first 200 feet of the East Golden Gol-den Gate double compartment shaft I which is to be 4x9 feet in the clear This property is admirably located be an old resident resi-dent of Beaver who is quite heavily interested in mining in Newton mining min-ing district is a candidate for the position po-sition of warden at the state penitentiary peniten-tiary The judge has served for several sev-eral years as United States deputy marshal in the old Second judicial district dis-trict and is well qualified for the position po-sition he seeks claims in Clifton In which they have fine bodies of exposed ore that will run 1 in gold 100 ounces silver and 33 per cent lead to the ton With railroad facilities these would be dividend paying mines yet as it is this ore would pay to ship despite the long wagon haul |
