Show PLACER 3IEVIXG I3T MOXTAXA Salt Lnlccrs Interested In Good Ground Up There The Cedar creek placers in Montana were the scene of considerable activity during the lst season with assurances I assur-ances that next year more gravel will be handled than at any period in the history of those famous old diggings that thirty years ago furnished the arena for one of the biggest excitements excite-ments ever known in the west The Oregon Placer company in which L C Karrick and others of Salt Lake are interested says the Butte Miner has put in an immense hydraulic plant and if the season of 1896 produces enough water the cleanup will be the largest larg-est ever experienced in the district The company ha 300 acres of ground that is estimated will average fully 1 to the yard The Cedar Creek Placer company also produced good results during the past season The California Placer company also had a good year the gravel washed averaging fully 1 per yard Placer miners are jubilant over the heavy fall of snow in the mountains which insures an abundance of water for next seasons operations I is said by those who have lately been in the mountains that the present depth of snow is fully twice as deep as at anytime any-time during last season and no doubt considerable more snow will fall before the winter Is over During the past year a large amount of development work has been done and many valuable valu-able tracts of placer ground was put in condition for production and if the present Indications are realized next year will witness a revival in placer = mining output of that 1895 will greatly increase the I |
