Show MRS COURTNEY I It Is Desired That n Commission In UttJre Into Her Mental Condition NEW YQRK Nov 9An order was signed in the supreme court by Justice Lawrence today on the petition of Wil L lard Brown of 401 West One Hundred and Fortyeighth street citing that a commission to inquire into the mental corcition of Mrs Isabella Cutting Courtney be appointed Mrs Courtney is the daughter of Francis Cutting of San Francisco who is at present traveling in Europe In 1891 she married Harold Courtney and one year thereafter she showed signs of mental disorder while she was in Europe with her husband She was adjudged ad-judged insane by the Italian courts in 1892 and placed in Sbertoli asylum in Pistoia where she remained until 1894 wben she was discharged and given ih the custody of her cousin Miss Mary Nelson Patterson who acted as her guardian Miss Patterson and her charge are now In the Isle of Wight and as the guardian is desirous of coming herewith here-with rr Courtney the commission is asked for so that Mis Patterson may be further appointed a committee of the I demented womans person and estate I ape rs also from the papers that the whereabouts of Mr Courtney is not known althoughit i supposed tate I tat-e Is in Europe About the time Mrs Courtney was discharged from the Italian asylum an agreement was made by which Courtney was to receive from his wifes father 125 a month fbr two years and 10 Oa month for the succeeding two years the consideration being on hi part that he have no further fur-ther control over his wife The petition states that Mrs Court neys property in this state amounts to only 2500 in personal property I |
