Show IN RAILWAY CIRCLES THB SOLTHKHN PACIFIC WAITED TUB LIONS SHARE Western immigrant JCIearlnj House Abandons the Efforts to Bench u Concession Mr BaiuberKcrs Road Local Notes I CHICAGO Oct 30The advisory I board of the Western Clearing House has abandoned its efforts to reach an agreement with the Southern Pacific in the matter of commissions on this class of business A division of the business was proposed pro-posed but the Southern Pacific asked too large a share I was then proposed pro-posed to maintain agreed rates of fares and commissions but the Southern South-ern Pacific Insisted that commissions be paid to European agencies not only on the business in which it was directly direct-ly interested but on that ticketed to intermediate points In rhich it has no Interest When negotiations were broken off the clearing house roads decided they would reduce commissions commis-sions which are now 15 and 16 a I ticket to 5 a ticket and thus throw on the Sunset route the responslblllty for the continuance of the present demoralization de-moralization Should the latter road persist in paying the old commissions some plan Will be adopted by its competitors com-petitors to meet the competition but Just what method will be adopted is not yet announced A commission of immigrant traffic has practically been agreed upon between be-tween the transatlantic steamship companies and trunk lines and western roads in which the Southern Pacific Is Ignored The details of this agreement have not yet been arranged but should they prove satisfactory to the lines Interested the new method will be put into effect Jan 1 An agreement has also been reached in the matter of hauling immigrant business coming via Galveston and this business will be divided among the roads running out of Galveston |
