Show WILL APPOINT THE DELEGATES Cleveland is in Favor of an International In-ternational Agreement Agree-ment DANIEL IS MUCH PLEASED HAS XO DOUBT 1VE WILL BE REP ItEISIINTED L Stories That the Administration Was Averse to Any Such a Meeting Meet-ing Were Doubtless Started Because Be-cause of a Misunderstanding of the Exact Situation Washington March 29It Is impossible to secure confirmation here of the report from London that the United States has consented to enter the proposed international interna-tional conference but the best information informa-tion obtainable is to the effect that Incase In-case the call issued the president will by authority of the law enacted during the last session appoint the three delegates dele-gates necessary to complete the commission commis-sion on behalf of this country Many of his best friends express the opinion that he will not forego any opportunity that promises substantial progress to promote an international agreement on this question ques-tion but add that he will in all probability probabil-ity prefer to see the terms of the call before be-fore taking action Senator Daniel one of the delegates appointed ap-pointed on behalf of the Senate was in the city today and expressed himself as Pleased to hear the report that England was favorably considering the question of representationat the conference and said ne naa been fearful that that country would take a position which would render ren-der the conference If held Incapable of accomplishing results He said also that while he had no information with which the public was not in possession he was of the opinion that the conference would be called and that the United States would be represented The Situation Washington March 29The United States has not yet given any assurance other than that contained In the passage ot the Wolcott resolution by Congress of its readiness jo participate In another monetary conference the chief reasons perhaps being that as yet It has not been Invited totjsucha gathering There has been considerable discussion at the attI tude of the administration in the matter SL the conference and assertions have been made that the president was not at all anxious to have one held This there Is good authority for saying Is not the J policy of the administration On the con trary there is declared to be a desire to have the conference if there is any prospect pros-pect of obtaining a result It is probable that some expression of fear that there was not at present much prospect of i anything being done by a conference has been construed that the administration was not in favor of such a gathering |
