Show LAND TO > BE SURVEYED Snake Valley Will Receive Some Welcome Benefits WORK COMMENCES AT ONCE lAG U HOLLOWAr SUOUIIBD A GOVERNMENT CONCESSION The Utah Guano Company lins Been Vormnlly Organized Restraining Order Hearing ou Today in Ogden Prices on Cuttle Hound to Go HiBlicr Great Sliortngc of Stock Hcp < irtetl Through the efforts of General Manager Holloway and the other members mem-bers of the Snake Valley Land and Water company part of the 12000 congressional con-gressional appropriation made for the purpose of defraying the expenses of making surveys of unsurveyed government I govern-ment jamls is to be expended in running run-ning the proper lines through the strip of virgin territory lying under the canal system of the company in Snake valley but nearer the Nevada line than the other land now being reclaimed by the promoters of the great irrigation enterprise Contracts have been let for r the surveying of the land which is ifc made up of in the neighborhood of six I 1 townships and the papers are now on I their way to Washington for approval Just as soon as they are returned to SurveyorGeneral Snow with the certificate cer-tificate of approval from the general land commisioner then the work Is to I 1 commence and be pushed with all the haste possible In his affidavits filed in the land office for the purpose of securing se-curing the surveying of the property Mr Holloway makes a statement that I Im has colonist ready to take up all of the lands as soon as they are thrown upon the market and that i is the intention of the company to at once construct sufficient length of canal to reclaim the entire tract to be surveyed sur-veyed 4 Colonel Holloway returned yesterday morning from Texas where he has been for the past several weeks settling set-tling up some private matters and interesting in-teresting many of his old friends in the Snake valley enterprise He was accompanied I ac-companied on the out trip by George I H Lacey and his son F H Lacey who are but the forerunners of a large conolv of Texans who will settle on the lands of the company and hereafter reside in fair Utah The former gentleman gentle-man has already invested heavily in Utah property among his purchases being two large ranches under the canals of the Snake Valley Land and Water company for which he paid the sum of 12000 and upon which his own family and that of one of his sons will make their homes The colonel reports a great Interest being awakened among k the people of Texas in the irrigation enterprises of this territory and he I predicts that before the next three L months have passed into history the Lone Star state will have sent several I large colonies to Utah The people there arc becoming extremely tired of depending entirely upon nature for drink for their vegetation and they have about made up their minds that irrigation is the only solution of the problem which becomes harder yearly and that Utah Is the place in which the best results may be obtained President James A Melville of the company joined the colonel here and together they will go south within the next few day iMr Melville stated yesterday yes-terday that the dam of the great reservoir res-ervoir Is practically completed and work on the canals is being rushed at J a j3plendldrate |
