Show I RAILWAY CIRCLES ATTEMPT TO REORGANIZE TItANS COXTIXEXTAI ASSOCIATION I The Meeting at Chicago Yesterday The Movement Assumes Definite Form Hills New Scheme General I Railway Notes Chicago May 10The attempt to reorganize re-organize the transcontinental passenger association assumed definite form today and there is on the surface no reason why the efforts should not be successful All of the lines interested were represented repre-sented at the meeting all announcing themselves as being in favor of the reorganization re-organization and no line was able to give any reason why the reorganization should not b started at once After I some discussion it was decided to appoint ap-point a committee to draw up a plan of < reorganization which is to be submitted to the general meeting not later than May 2 The committee consists ot representatives of the Canadian Pacific Northern Pacific Great Northern Union Pacific Rock Island Atchison and Southern Pacific Whatever the < or i mlttee agrees upon is very sure of adoption adop-tion for the committee comprises nearly all the lines interested in the transcontinental trans-continental traffic Yesterday the western lines In solemn conclave decided that after May 10 there would be no more demoralized rates whether on account of the homeseekers excursions or for any other reason Now there is every probability that not only will the regular summer tourist rates be slashed right and left but that regular rates as well will become badly demoralized Ized The trouble has arisen over a circular of the Burlington rOd which offers to agents a commission of 5 per ticket Instead of 52 per ticket as agreed upon by the western lines The Burling tons circular related particularly to Colorado business and today a secret conference of other lines interested in Colorado summer tourist business was held and the decision reached that unless the Burlington promptly withdraws Its offer of t 55 commission they will reduce I the regular summer tourist rate to Colorado Colo-rado points by 55 This row will without doubt again postpone the reorganization of the western lines passenger association associa-tion which in scheduled to begin next I week and there is a strong probability widespread that the demoralization will become I The hotel and stage Company which has a monopoly of the Business at Yellowstone i Yel-lowstone Park has announced a material reduction in rates to be charged visitors to the park Heretofore it has cost 63 prk to make a tour of the park but now the Irate I-rate has been put at 54450 This rate I covers 3 stay of five and one half days j In the park hotel expenses and a complete com-plete circuit of the park I |
