Show i AMOSEMENIS The MroTrnics at the Theatre It is a pleasant thing to report so delightful an entertainnient as the i Brownies in Fairyland given at the theatre last evening by a host of little Salt Lalce boys and girls under the I tutelage of Miss Jennie M Long It ris a juvenile performance in every sense just as the Brownies themselves were created to entertain juveniles but under the humorous influence ot Palmer Cox the gLtted writer and ar tist they soon came to amuse and en certain grownup people and at the theatre last night at was the grownup people wlho seemed most to enjoy tttielr adventures There was a good attendance and the exploits of the little fellows were followed with delight and applause from beginning to end There were I many instances of unexpected talent Among the boys those who had the leading I parts seemed to have ibeen well chosen in casting the various characters Riclhard Ogleslby was handsome as the Prince playing carefully care-fully and reading well Harold Fabian Fa-bian might just as well come out with ihis full name on the bills for the was instantly recognized and universally admired as the dude Frankie Young I as Uncle Sam and Del Olal son as the Chinaiman were liked by everybody I but none seemed to have so much fun as Master Chester Hyams as Billy the I sailor This little fellow seems to foe a natural born comedian wlio keeps iiis place without interfering with the others and yet carries on a lot of little uuny tricks that are intensely comical while foe XnmselT seems wholly unconscious I uncon-scious of the burner the provokes Among the little ladies it is diffl cult to single out any for special mention men-tion Tihere all are so graceful and charming They were all pretty and daintily dressed and in the dance at Fairy Dell it seemed indeed like fairy land The littlest tot of all Frances Cowan Little Goasyouplease can only be four or five at most and was as sweet as a tiny wax doll but much more animated and graceful The Star of the evening was Irene Eckis who took the leading part of Queen Flora She is a veritable wonder in every respect Graceful and prebty asa as-a fairy a delightful little actress and reader she was actually brilliant in everything she said or did Her part was far the longest and most difficult of any but the most captious critic could find no fault with her even if he wanted to and we cant imagine anyone any-one who would want to Although one of the youngest of the set she never faltered once but whether acting or singing she was altogether delightful and carried her part with the utmost ease and with charming taste We would like to see aMa little Queen Flora deluged witih flowers this evening The whola entertainment has been well thought out and prepared with good stage management The music is pretty and with Qlrs Hamilton at the piano Mr Careless found bme dash added to his careful directorship There should be and we expect will be a bumping big house tonight and at the matinee next Saturday afternoon |
