SUCCESSPUL EXPERIMENF Porto Bicans Take Pride In Bling Soldiers of United States Washington Aug O3Accerding to recent advices received ott the war do partmeat the experiment of enlisting natlve of the West IndIes into the American army has proved quite suc ceasful irs the case of the Porte Rican battalion of United States volunteers which body completed its organization a few weeks ago This iattaiion is commanded by Major L P Davidran and in the only one of Its kind in the army Lieutenant Bryand who Is the bat talion adjutant has written a letter to Major Johnson of tire adjutant goat orals office speaking in high terms of the composition of the battalion He says that the Porto Rican soldiers area are-a fine lot of men obedient and willlny to learn they take good pride in being soldiers of the United States army and always dress very clean and neat iIi opinion is that Porte Rican soleliers officered by Americans wii bit a suq cess and a valuable nddition to the United States army
