and Texas The Fortysixth was organized at South Fromlngton Mass and is made up of men of all he eastern states but principally prin-cipally of KOT England Several of the ointers are already in Manila where they will await the arrival of their regiment Major Miller was accompanied from Denver by his brother S i Miller of that city who will return this morning Dr I Paul of Denver who has lived in Colorado for more than thirty years and has practiced medicine there for many yean declared yesterday at the ear te Kenyoni that the statements of Dr V 1 McGIIlyenddy concerning the danger from the large number of consumptives in tgtht numptve Colorado was news to Mm I donft know that a very much larger number of such patients or lungers a they ore locally known have come into the state recently Th people of tho state are not alarmed I have never heard the matter fllscushed nor any attention given to the subject There arc always many patients for the stat1 hag been advertised as a sanitarium and many persons have been benefited by living In 1 The statement state-ment that there is danger of catching consumption from sleeping in hotels where persons ofUlcted alight have been before seems to the to be absurd I have at least never heard of any such danger or known that anyone feared to remain in I hotels on that account The health of the people of Colorado and of Denver Is better bet-ter thair ever before They never were in such good eoadltian The Rollins mine will be started again In a very few days said J F Mumly of Lirnxjln Ills managing director of the company at the Kenyon hotel last c4gt Ve vlll get enough new machinery for the pumps to cope with the flow of water which has stopped the work Tho Rollins ha been worked since last spring and during part of this time there has been a flow of COO gallons of water per minute This was pumped oyt without I with-out great difficulty hut last week by a blast another flow of water Increasing tlio volume to 700 gallons per minute was opened up The pumps could not handle that quantity or water so they were closed down and work was sopped There will be no difficulty In pumping out the water when we get the r < ow machinery ma-chinery continued Mr Mundy The difficulty is really of little consequence It will not injure the property Wo will have work going on a rapidly as ever within seven days after the larger pumps begin N F Beers a farmer of Cisco is lying nt the Cullen with a broken arm and leg the result of an attempt to stretch a hay fork on his farm list week Mr Beers and his wife came up on the Rio Grande traIn Friday evening and ho was carried to tho note where he has beeT attended by Dr Pinkerton Mr Berrs was preparing his fork for his hay mow and was stretching tho wire across when he slipped and fell a distance of twenty feet to the ground He was picked up and carried home and was cared for a few days when it was thought best to bring him to Salt Lake where he could have better medical attendance at-tendance Mrs Beers has been attending her husband might and day since his injury in-jury but It is probable that he will betaken be-taken to St Marks hospital We are all happy at Provo were all contented and prosperous said Attorney D D Houtz at the White House yesterday yester-day There isnt anything to worry us and plenty to make us contented hines tho branch of the Rio Grande has been finished to Heber and Is In operation we I are more certain than ever that Provo is going to be a great city The travel on I the line Is good Soat shipments have been heavy Now Provo is naturally the headquarters quarters for the Provo valley and i will be the point at which all the farmers t Chs 1i m and residents f the small towns will make their purchases They may now I come down and return on the same day They will thus come oftener heretofore t the trip by wagon has been long and tedious so that there were not many trips made With a low far and fast trains these people may come down to Provo every Saturday There is one noticeable thing about Attorney At-torney Houtz who Is one of the best lawyers law-yers In the state he resembles William J Bryan very much in looks manners I and acton Nearly everyone who sees him remarks the similarity President W J Kerr of Logan is at the Cullen A J Pollock a United States engineer oC Washington D C Is at the Kenyon Kenyon M
