BxNAllSKAEL New Years Services In the Synagogue Continued The services begun on Friday evening at the now sjnagoguo were continued yesterday yester-day forenoon under the supervision of the new rabbi Dr Moses P Jacobson The congregation used the Wise Ritual and the eloquent and earnest sermon was listened to with marked attention The rabbi took the day for his text and divided the discourse into three subdivisions subdivi-sions LGods sovereignty 2Memory I Repentance elaborating each in order and at the close made a very sppropriute and beautiful reference to his call to this charge and the hopes and aims which animated ani-mated him in the work A most beautiful feature of tho service was the music by the choir consisting oJ Mrs oseph Siegel Miss Jennie Hawley Prof Krouse and Mr Oberndorfor The ten days of penance began yesterday and will continue to Sunday the 11th instant in-stant In this connection it will be of interest to our readers to know that the new rabbi is a young man though not without experience exper-ience He is a native of Indiana and was educated at the Hebrew Union college After an eight year course he graduated in 1SSO and took as his first charge Macon Ga afterward going to San Antonio Tex His congregation here numbers 150 members mem-bers and the new edifice has recently been constructed at a cost of about 40000 In the language of the prayer May this day strengthen them
