| Show OUR BOYS WIN HONOR Two Utah Dental Students Walk Away With the iize Out of a Class of 83 2 Utah Boys Graduate With the 10 Honor JimFrom tile Now YorK College of Dentistry The old adage that blood will tell is again exemplified iu the graduation record of two Utah boys at the New York School of Dentistry Den-tistry The proud record which Utah boys have made in the schools of the world whether L in i paintintr sculpture music military science dentistry or the other professions is shared by the entire people of the territory terri-tory oryTwo Two Utah boys Charles M Cannon and John t redorick buedaner entered the New York dental college and out of a class of eight tive their names appear among the ten honor menThe men-The New York Tribune in its account of the graduation exercises says Chickering hall was packed to overflowing overflow-ing with the friends of eightyfive graduating gradu-ating students of the New York college of dentistry last night Great enthusiasm marked the announcement of the successful graduates by Prof Frank Abbott dean of the college The exercises opened with a prayer by the Rev J Nevett Steele after which the names of the graduating ciass of the twentyfifth aunual commencement were called and received their diplomas from J Hampton Robb president of the board of trustees The honor men were Drs Abbanesius Broughlou Burgess Cannon Gilson Hess Knight Morris Moss and Suedaker Clarence Clar-ence D Gilson the valedictorian of the class received a largo floral horseshoe from Mr and Mrs Don Carlos Logan The prize winners were Jonu Glover Brough ton who received the faculty gold medal for the best written oral and practical examination ex-amination George Winthrop Knight silver sil-ver medal for best work done on natural teeth Charles M Cannon bronze medal for best oral report on surgical clinics and J A Kraezelow junior silver medal for best examination J Hampden Robb presided and with him on the platform were tho Rev J Nevett Steele Prof Abbott Ab-bott the Rev Dr Henry Y Satterlee Prof Fancuil D Weisse Prof A W Stein Prof J Bond Littig Dr John Allen Dr John W Bateheldor Dr J Howard Reed Dr Frank Leroy Satterlee Dr Muskovitch Dr Bell Dr Merritt and Dr Webber The Seventh regiment orchestra under the direction of C A Cappa played the Chimes of Normaudy The Rev Dr Sattsrlee then made an address to the stu dents The Rev Mr Steele pronounced the benediction Charles M Cannon is a brother of ex Recorder George M Cannon and for a time filled a clerkship in that office |
