Show AMUSEMENTS FROM SIRE TO SON Milton Nobles vividly interesting play though on its third or fourth performance in Salt Lake last evening drew the same big house that greeted it on its opening night here the same enthusiastic audience that Nobles can always depend on in this city No actor that we know of plays to the same undeviating round of good business busi-ness here that Noble does Season after season he comes and this season as last ho comes without any novelty to offer us but the business continues just a large and tho curtain calls just as numerous as ever Even the Phoenix we doubt not will be greeted by the old regulation attendance The play last night was done as well as ever with much the same cast as last year Nobles as the reformed gambler was as quietlY andi ntensely effective as ever and his wife has somewhat improved on her dual delineation of the mother and daughter Tho other characters were good throughout and the enjoyment of the audience audi-ence throughout was decidedly marked Tonight Love and Law THE CHORAL At the Choral last evening Mr Stephens told the 400 members their aid was wanted to make the affair a financial as well as an artistic success i all would see that their friends purchased subscription tickets at the sale commencing the 15th this success would be assured in advance The Choral has now finished The Spring from Haydens Seasons which with Thursby and Whitney as the soloists will be the feature of the festival and form the concluding con-cluding selection on the last night TiE BALLAD CONCERT AND THE HURALD Some weakheaded fool in Sundays Trf Iwnc attempted to score point against THE HERALD by saying the big house at the Brigham concert had been drawn out without with-out a line of advertising in this paper Inasmuch In-asmuch as THE HEHALD for six weeks worked up the concert in question by a series se-ries of free notices in its dramatic and lyric department all published out of good will to tho projector of this concert it would seem that that the Tribunes fund of idiocy still remains unexhausted The concert management very justly considered that there was scarcely any need of paid advertising adver-tising MEN AND WOMEN The indications are that the Salt Lake theatre will do its largest business of the season with Men and Women to be presented pre-sented on Thursday evening by Charles Frohmans celebrated stock company from New York There is little doubt but that this company will create a sensation It numbers twentysix people some of whom have been stars and all of whom rank high in dramatic art their united abilities producing pro-ducing an ensemble of mpst striking excellence excel-lence The opening of the sale takes place tomorrow morning |
