Show Wood River Ore Rates Reduced BELLEVUE Idaho May 4 Special Telegram to Tnn IiBnLDE B True superintendent of the Red Cloud mine and W H Watt have returned from their trip to Omaha and Denver in the interest of lower rates per railroad on Wood River ores They met representatives of all the smelting works at Denver smeltng but could obtain no reauction the smelters claiming that the present charges left them little or nomargin They met with better success in the matter of freights At Omaha they secured an appointment by telegraph with Mr Mel len general traffic manager of the Union Pacific system and went on to Chicago to meet him By agreeing to an increase of 10 cents per 100 pounds on in freights they succeeded inobtuining a reduction of about 4 per ton on all ores from Wood River This new tariff will be announced as soon as the thirty days notice required by the interstate commerce law shall have been given |
