Show THE COUNTY COURT IThe Coroners Accounts are Cut Dowd Be moval of Telegraph Poles There was a rather extended session of the county court yesterday but little business busi-ness was done Superintendent Corwiu ot the Salt Lake division of the Union Pacigc was present and stated he thought his company would have no objection to removing certain telegraph tele-graph poles along a county road south of the city f The Salt Lake Street Railroad company were granted a franchise to extend their lineo on Fourth East from Tenth South or Roper to the South Boulevard or Penitentiary Peniten-tiary street In the matter of the application of Mrs A M Mulhall was referred to the attorney with instructions to report whether or not tho county could proceed against her children to recover money paid in case she was made a county charge The accounts of the coroner wero presented pre-sented and considerable discussion followed Mr Harris was on hand with an armful of law books and defended the position he had taken on the question of mileage with the eloquence of a Bartch and the astuteness astute-ness of Tom Fitch But it was no go The court refuse to allow the mileage and the coroner is out of pocket seven big round iron dollars and the price of a schooner of foaming lager He threatens to get even and there is no doubt he will make it good Sheriff Burt was called in to explain what he knew about the purchase of tickets to send an indigent female east Judge Bartch took on the highest dignity that the law allows and propounded several questions ques-tions to the sheriff intentioned with what he knew about the purchase of railroad tickets The mares nest however was not discovered and the colloquy ended |
